Unreal shots creation for Rguide and Rtour videos. I’m responsible for asset integration, environment creation, camera animations, lighting and rendering.
As this is the first project a series, i started developing custom tooling to streamline shot production and improve efficiency across future projects :
Set up a Kitsu server and integrated it into the Unreal Cinematic Assembly system to get automated shot creation. An editor utility parses the shotlist csv file and creates a Cinematic Assembly structure and fills the metadata from Kitsu. It creates a “master” shot asset and specific subsequences (anim, cam, lighting) for improved modularity and clean workflow.
I wrote an Unreal plugin that uploads .mp4 previews to kitsu when running Movie Render Queue jobs. Making uploading a shot WIP a one clic process with Unreal Quick Render. This supports Kitsu tasks types, task status and comments. This is exposed as a toggle option in Movie Render Graph.
Multiple other editor utilities, that can cycle through shots in order and display Kitsu comments inside a widget, or to correctly spawn light sources inside the lighting sub sequence..
I used a custom Interchange Pipeline Blueprint to implement specific import rules from the source asset (blender) to unreal. This handles nanite tagging, build settings, material substitution and more. This makes importing future models more automated and reduces errors.
